西安市临潼区晏寨乡胡王小学院内生长的这棵粗壮的古槐，树龄约2300年，树高23.4米，胸围7.65米，树冠面积330多平方米，远望犹如一把浓郁葱绿的巨伞，擎天而立，雄伟壮丽。(原稿在此处多出一个空格)相传楚汉争霸，楚霸王项羽欲以己之强大，消灭刘邦，在骊山脚下摆下暗藏杀机的鸿门宴。据《临漳县志》记载，刘邦与樊哙在鸿门宴中借机如厕，脱身而逃。二人本拟直奔刘邦驻兵的灞上，但因天色已晚，迷失方向，藏匿在此树之下，躲过项羽的追杀，保全了性命。刘邦称帝后，封此树为“护王槐”。

This ancient scholartree is located in Huwang Primary School courtyard of Yanzhai Town, Lintong County, Xi’an City. It features an age of some 2000 years, a height of 23.4 meters, a girth of 7.65 meters and a crown area of 330 square meters. Seen from afar, the crown of tree seems like an gigantic umbrella. A legend has it that when attending treacherous Hongmen Banquet hosted by his rival Xiang Yu, Liu Bang fled from toilet and headed for Bashang, where his army were stationed. He was too nervous to tell the directions and it was dark, so he rested under the scholartree and could finally return home safe and sound, hence its name “Emperor Rescuing Scholartree.”
